  3. What is the defect / waste rate for this product at this price tier? (Ask for batch consistency data)
  4. Does the product affect installation time? (Does labor need to change?)
  5. What is my management time cost for handling issues? (Estimate: 1-3 hours per complex order)

I’ve run this checklist on 47 orders since Q2 2024. It’s caught 12 potential cost overruns. It’s saved me roughly $8,000 in hidden costs. There’s something satisfying about seeing the process work – after all the stress and coordination, finally having a system that prevents the same mistakes.
