Trusted by Contractors Across North America

From single-family residential to large-scale commercial, Georgia-Pacific materials deliver consistent performance on real jobsites.

"We've been specifying GP OSB sheathing for our production homes for eight years. It comes in dead flat, holds fasteners reliably, and the span ratings are right there on every panel. No surprises — and that matters when you're framing 40 homes a month."

Marcus T.
President, Trident Residential Construction — Phoenix, AZ

"The Compass vinyl siding line gave us exactly the colour consistency we needed across 72 townhome units. Our painters didn't have to worry about lot-to-lot variation and the board-and-batten profiles installed cleanly. Georgia-Pacific's distributor support was also excellent."

Jennifer K.
Project Manager, Lakeside Urban Developments — Charlotte, NC

"On our LEED Silver multifamily project we needed SFI-certified panels and detailed EPDs for the submittal package. GP had everything documented, including third-party chain-of-custody. The spec sheet library on their site saved my team considerable research time."

Responsible Forest Stewardship

Every Georgia-Pacific panel product originates from SFI-certified forests managed for long-term ecological health. Our 29 North American manufacturing facilities operate under zero-landfill improvement programs, with 78% of process water recycled on-site.

Wood-based panels sequester carbon throughout the building's lifetime, making GP products a net-positive contribution to your project's embodied-carbon budget. EPDs are available for all structural panel lines.

Frequently Asked Questions

For wall sheathing in ASCE 7-22 wind Exposure Category C or D zones (design wind speeds ≥ 130 mph), Georgia-Pacific recommends 7/16″ OSB with 3″ panel edge spacing and 8d ring-shank nails at 6″ o/c on edges and 12″ in the field, per the GP Panel Products Design and Construction Guide Table 4.1. For roof applications in high-wind zones, 15/32″ Exposure 1 panels with H2.5 hurricane clips provide robust diaphragm performance. Always verify with the project's structural engineer of record.

GP vinyl siding is inherently dimensionally stable and will not absorb liquid water, eliminating the moisture-related swelling and painting cycles associated with engineered wood products. In ASTM E331 water-penetration testing, Compass profiles showed zero water intrusion at 8.0 psf static air pressure. The trade-off is that vinyl has lower impact resistance than fibre-cement and can become brittle below −15 °C (5 °F) — a consideration for northern Canadian projects. We recommend pairing vinyl siding with a continuous drainage plane (housewrap) for best long-term wall assembly hygrothermal performance.

Yes. Georgia-Pacific structural panels can contribute to LEED v4 MR Credit: Building Product Disclosure and Optimization – Sourcing of Raw Materials (Option 2 – Leadership Extraction), because they are manufactured from SFI Program Participant-certified forests. EPDs are available for OSB and plywood product lines, supporting MR Credit: Building Product Disclosure and Optimization – Environmental Product Declarations. Chain-of-custody certificates are available upon request for project-specific submittals. Note that LEED credit achievement depends on total project material cost thresholds — consult your LEED AP for project-specific calculations.

Standard colour Compass profiles in common widths (double 4″, double 5″) typically ship from our southeastern distribution network in 5–10 business days for orders under 100 squares. Specialty colours, custom widths, or co-mingled pallet orders for large production communities (500+ squares) should be planned with 3–4 weeks lead time to allow production scheduling. We recommend contacting our national distribution desk for volume commitments exceeding 1,000 squares to arrange blanket purchase orders with guaranteed allocation.

Yes. Our Architectural Solutions team provides CSI MasterFormat-compliant specification language (Div. 06 and 07), CAD/BIM details for common wall assembly conditions, and ASTM test reports for inclusion in project submittal packages. Lunch-and-learn sessions are available for AIA-credit CEUs. Contact our technical sales team via the quote form or call 1-800-563-4482 to schedule a specification consultation.
